About KLA

Kingdom Leadership Academy is a private Christian microschool and homeschool hybrid learning center. If you are unfamiliar with the term, a microschool can be described as a modern-day one-room schoolhouse. There are up to 10 students in a single area, multiple grade levels or ages, and generally, one teacher who facilitates learning. We partner with parents who are currently homeschooling or wish to offer a homeschool environment for their children with either full-time or 2×2 model to suit their needs. At KLA, we currently serve grades 1-6 with a goal of expanding to the middle school grades in the near future.

KLA was founded in 2023 by Dr. Lisa Hebert who is a retired public school teacher with 22 years in the classroom. Her vision for offering parents a different opportunity for their students came from years of watching desperation on the faces of many students who felt as though they were invisible in the classroom. They had so much to offer but were overlooked because of large class sizes, non-compliant students draining the teacher’s time, not really understanding the concepts presented but being too afraid to ask questions, or just being bored waiting on others to catch up.

Your student will learn how to think deeply and critically, solve complex problems, and speak and write effectively. Using BJU Press curriculum, your student will study Reading, Math, Language/Writing/Spelling, Science, Heritage Studies, and Bible. Even though we do not ‘teach the test’, we will take a diagnostic norm-referenced test at the beginning and the end of the year to monitor progress. One of our goals here is for you to see a huge difference in your student’s confidence level when speaking in public. KLA will be a safe place to practice speaking and listening. By the end of the year, your student will more than likely seek out a chance to speak out about what they’ve learned here and to share their goals for the future.

At KLA, your student will learn Biblical principles and character throughout their lessons. In today’s society, there is a critical need for instruction in topics such as morality, integrity and accountability. At KLA, your student will learn that even though the Bible is thousands of years old, it still offers timeless truths that are very relevant to their lives today. Through Bible study, scripture memorization, and daily prayer, your student will be empowered to discover their God-given identity.
